Hi - I have been diagnosed with placenta previa at my 20 week scan. I am due to do a 1 hour flight at 22 weeks - has anyone else flown with placenta previa? I will still have access to hospitals etc. Thank you!

Hey! I flew with placenta previa at 22 weeks and returned at 23 weeks, it was a 4.5 hour flight each way. My consultant said she was happy for me to fly as I hadn’t had any bleeds at that point. She did say there was a risk however the risk was low.
I did end up admitted to hospital at 23 or 24 weeks with a bleed so I’m fortunate it didn’t happen on holiday.
It might be worth speaking to your consultant if you have one. Also make sure you’ve got travel insurance (assuming you’re travelling outside the uk). Happy to discuss in more detail if it would be helpful 💕

Thanks so much Katie - that’s super helpful!! I haven’t had any bleeds yet either so hopefully I will also be viewed as low risk 🙏🏻🙏🏻
I spoke to a midwife yesterday and she advised me to speak to my GP so I have a call booked for Friday.
I’ll only be travelling to Ireland, and have insurance so I’m leaning towards going as long as the GP gives me the green light. Or driving, worst case scenario. We have unfortunately just cancelled a trip with a 7 hour flight at 25 weeks - we felt that was for the best!
Thanks so much for your message! 💕

Ah that’s a shame you had to cancel your trip for 25 weeks but you’re right that it’s for the best. The GP might be a bit non committal and say it’s up to you. Wishing you all the best! 🥰
