Hello ladies! I’m due to have my first baby at Kings College hospital later this year and have some questions about labour, birth & how much it will cost, and what the system includes.
I’m under my hubbys insurance - Cigna Nueron.
Can anyone help answer any of the following?
- are antenatal classes offered ahead of the birth?
- does the hospital (or any provider) offer a mums support group like they do in the UK?
- How many days stay do I expect after the baby arrives?
- Does the stay include access to a lactation consultant?
- is all pain relief included under insurance?
- are there any hidden cost to consider?
I feel pretty clueless and like we’re going into it blind! 🙈 any information would be super useful!
Thanks ladies xxx💗

Hello,
I delivered at kings a few months ago. The antenatal classes are at an additional cost but they are run before hand and they advise you attend when around 30 Weeks pregnant. I found them useful and you meet the mid wives which is great.
The hospital didn’t as such but I met mums in my class which I’ve stayed in touch with, there is also a lot of mums groups in Dubai!
If you have vaginal delivery you’ll stay 2 nights and C section 3 nights. This is standard so if there is any other complications it may be longer. I have birth Saturday night and was home by Monday afternoon.
Lactation- the lactation consultant can be requested to come to do a personal session. We did a group
Lactation session while we were in hospital and then had a follow up
after we were discharged.
All my pain relief was included but can’t speak for your insurance.
The other additional
I paid for was the classes and then I opted for mid wife home visits post birth. These aren’t necessary but useful!
Hello Keely. Congrats on the new baby. Hop you’re doing well 😀 Amazing! Thank you so much for the info. Can I ask which insurance you were with? I’ve got Cigna Neuron, which has covered everything so far!

I had ADNIC which covered everything except those bits I mentioned!
