My little boy always used to be so calm and all of a sudden in the last week he's kicking, screaming, throwing everything and hitting us. Anyone else going through this phase? How do you discipline them? I feel like he's so little he doesn't really understand. Also I know it's conepletely normal at this stage but I'd like to also teach him that it isn't a very good thing.

Yes! Currently going through this; throwing things, tantrums, pulling hair, hitting in the face :( and when I stop him, and say to him it’s not okay he starts hitting his own head!

At this stage you can’t really reason with them so discipline seems to be pointless. We’re going through the same though so what I’ve been doing is staying calm when it happens and if she starts throwing toys or hitting, I walk away and say ‘gentle hands please that hurts mummy’. And then after a minute I’ll open my arms and say ‘would you like a cuddle’. Majority of the time she stops after a minute and does have the cuddle. Once she stops I praise and say ‘good girl for listening to mummy’ ’lovely kind hands’ and carry on with play and what not. Ignore the behavior you don’t want and reward the behaviour you do. Apparently it’s all happening because they’re learning they have independence and can make their own choices and when things don’t go their way, it’s hard for them to manage the emotions that comes with it x
