Hi ladies, I’ll be choosing a c-section and would like to know recent experiences at Stoke Mandeville? I’ve seen comments of private rooms there, what are the costs? Ty

I was in stoke for 5 days and in a 5 bed ward after a c-section. It wasn't that bad. I didn't feel I needed a private room

I had an emergency c section in October and had a great experience. Not sure on the cost of private rooms, however I found the ward to be absolutely fine 🙂

Thank you for your experience, ladies. Regarding the private room I am just worried my partner will not be able to stay with me 2 nights, as it’s stated on their website. maybe the private room is different? I did not want to be alone in the ward.

Unless they’ve changed it again, my husband was allowed to stay with me. I think they changed the rules not long before I went in. You could give them a call?

I had an emergency c section last month and my partner was able to stay with me both nights. The midwives there are fantastic and the team doing the c section were great too.
But I hated the ward lol it was really loud and we barely slept

I had an emergency c section at SM and ended up being in for 4 days. Partner was only allowed the stay the first night then it was only daytime hours. I left wishing I had paid for my own room. Found it hard seeing people coming in and going home so quick but I was still there. Also found all the babies set each other off a night. One night I finally gave in to by stubbornness and pressed the buzzer for help to get baby back to his cot with blue lights for jaundice and waited half hour, eventually I just did it myself but was agony

I had my section in july 2024 at stoke mandeville. No private rooms were available which was a worry for me but the wards were actuallt relatively quiet all things considered and everyone was respectful of eachothers space. Nurses were great and my husband was able to stay the whole time xx

Thank you ladies. 🙏🏻 I think I’ll ask at my next appointment about the visitation rules and definitely ask for a private room if hubby is only allowed in for first day. Knowing myself I’ll not be very comfortable in asking for their help (I hate to be a bother) and end up doing everything alone.

I gave birth there two weeks ago and my partner was allowed to stay as much as we wanted. Tried for a private room but all were taken. Team there are fantastic

Had an emergency c section last august and my experience was good, felt informed the whole time and they took good care of us. The team at the theatre was lovely too, allowed us our golden hour and my partner was showed how to feed our girl with my pre-harvested colostrum. This was so handy before my milk kicked in xx
We were lucky to get a private room (they are all priced differently apparently), and stayed only a night. I still found it loud there though. They were checking on us every couple of hours, think thats a norm, so be ready for it x

I had c section in 2024 at SM and paid for the big room as the smaller ones were taken. I don't regret paying for it (around £600 for 3 nights) as the shared ward was absolutely awful and was making me consider giving birth at home... long story short, I noticed different people were treated differently and nurses had different rules for everyone. I'm surprised reading all the good comments but happy people are having good experiences 👍 I do recommend getting the room tho as it will be nicer for you, baby and your partner! x
