Have any other moms declined a health visitor please? I told my midwife that I didn’t want to be referred, but I’ve received a letter to say she has referred me anyway which has annoyed me, because I feel let down by my midwife too.
When I had my daughter 4 years ago, the health visitor I had I asked to leave after around 10 minutes into her first visit. She turned up unannounced at 8am in the morning, criticised me for having the news on the TV on low in the background to fill her awkward silences, in general I just found her to be rude so I asked her to leave and never heard from her again, so I didn’t want one this time around because I managed just fine and any concerns I had over my baby I contacted my GP for.
This time around, my midwife has been useless. Any concerns I’ve had, she’s not got back to me even after texting, calling and emailing the generic email, I’ve had to remind her to do my urine sample, she was running late for my last appointment at 28 weeks and said she would book me in for blood work as the centre was waiting to close and I’m now 31 weeks and haven’t heard from her, despite texting, calling and emailing. I don’t have another appointment arranged with her, I’ve chased this up too and heard nothing back.
I just feel let down and feel like any support or concerns I have, I can just contact my GP, which might sound extreme but I’m just feeling ignored, so would rather just cut ties with any services once baby is here because they are useless in my opinion.
I’ve not had any friends / family who have declined a health visitor so would be interested to hear from those who have.
Thank you.

I changed my midwife around 16 weeks pregnancy. And I did refused health visitor I had message and cancelled appointments I think it did say if I cancel few times they nit gone support me anymore so thats what I did. I dont need someone come talk to me like i am naughty 5 years old child. I get you.

I found the midwives great but the health visitor useless. I only met mine once when she also called really early just as my newborn had finally slept. Then arrived an hour late when I'd waited up for her after a rough night with little sleep and literally wanted to cry that I was missing my sleep opportunity. She tried to convince me I had PPD when I was just tired and frustrated.
I took my baby to the children centre regularly to get weighed and asked for any advice there regarding health, feeding and development. GP when needed. Maybe because these visits get logged I never heard from a HV again.
