Chicken pox

Hey I need your opinions on this. I took my daughter to the doctors last Wednesday and they confirmed she had chickenpox so obviously I’ve kept her off school and some of them have healed but there’s some that haven’t scabbed and she has this one on her back that still has pus in. I have told her school and they want me to take her in tomorrow for the receptionist to look at her spots and decide if they’re contagious even though this still has pus in and hasn’t scabbed. I’m actually so annoyed with how her school is handling it. I took her to the pharmacy earlier and he said she’s still contagious and that I shouldn’t be taking her. I’m so frustrated I don’t know what to do 😭

I would say that u sought professional advice today (pharmacist) and they advised it was still contagious. I imagine the school would rather be safe than sorry?!

Deputy head here- we do welfare checks on 3 day+ absences as part of our safeguarding procedures. It’s not about ‘threatening’, and even if we know the reason, we still have a statutory duty to make sure the children on our registers are safe. For every thousands of families that tell the truth and we see a poorly little one recovering at home, there will be on family that have lied and their child could be at risk.

However- we aren’t doctors and we’d never call a child back into school to make a judgement where they had already sought medical advice from a medical professional. That part isn’t okay!
