Nap trapped

My 6 month old will only sleep more than 30 min if he’s latched on laying in bed with me. What are we doing instead of brain rotting on TikTok durning nap times? I feel like I’m going crazy😭

Same 😭 I tried bed, crib but nothing works! I just read on iPad or take a nap if I am tired 😂

NYT games! Or reading or napping 🥲

Like other have said, shows and movies, or sometimes animal crossing for me lol
I have been trying more and more to put him down in the crib just to get him used to it thinking maybe he will learn he’s safe there and I will always be there/come back for him. Maybe he will learn to sleep longer there by himself, but idk.

Not recommended but my little one also has a hard time sleeping longer unless hes in his car seat or has like a weighted blanket or weighted stuffy on him. And it he likes being cozy warm in a cold room.

I do also do alot of anime and audio books during contact naps

Id use it to get my "me time" in. Like all the other comments say

mine did this too until she was 13 months. we tried it all — sleep consultant, books, advice.

i was on social media too much, but sometimes a book or handcraft was nice. honestly, i’d do anything to go back and be nap trapped again and snuggle her like that. but at the time i was so anxious that i was doing something wrong. 🧡

My kindle is my best friend. I’ve got through 8 books so far this year between my kindle and the odd audiobook here and there, best pregnancy purchase I made 😆

This is so great to see that I’m not the only one. I also have a contact napper. 8 months. He will not have a nap that isn’t on my husband or I. We have tried it all. And the boy just likes his contact naps only. Sometimes I feel like we just aren’t doing it right. And I try to remind myself that we are meeting his needs, and that’s the absolute right thing to do. Audiobooks are the best for me! An audiobook for my brain and a fidget like putty to keep my hands busy.

Eventually you'll be able to unlatch and slip out without waking him. It took a while for me! But I would have classical sleepy music and sound machine on to help keep him asleep. Especially if you've started tracking his naps and maximizing his wake windows, make sure that baby is really sleepy!

My son is 5 months and used to do the same thing. I started laying him in his bed once he gotten full (as he was falling asleep) and I gave him a pacifier. Once he fell fully asleep I took the pacifier out his mouth. (I don’t want to use a pacifier) after awhile he stopped needing his pacifier to fall asleep but I do pet his back till he calms then I tell him good night n hum to him. Hope this helps

Your baby is so cute 🥰🧿
Try to slowly introduce other sleep associations if you don’t have them, such as music, rubbing his back in a particular way, maybe handing him some sleepy toy. And after he gets 2-3 associations for sleep, he should be better at sleeping on his own. My child will also cling to me when he’s cold.

Also try to think what is your subconscious benefit of contact nap? Maybe you don’t give yourself enough rest during the day, and you get it while contact napping? Is there other way you can reset for the day? When my boy wouldn’t let me go even when he’s asleep, I start to think, what my soul wants now. And when I come up with something, he usually lets go and I go and nourish my soul, something like a cup of tea, some book, or self massage.

Podcast or download a streaming app on your phone and put some headphones in and watch your show while they sleep

My 6.5 month old is also a contact napper. I recently started to play a lot of games on my phone 😂 I try to play ones like Sudoko to make me feel like I’m helping my brain stay sharp haha

A lot of good advice on here! I hope one day I'll be able to get my baby girl to sleep by herself too haha! Currently hand sewing/embroidering during contact naps lol. Need a new project soon!!
