Eczema 4 month old

My 4.5-month-old has eczema that seems to be spreading across his upper body. It first started on his wrist and neck. We’ve seen four different GPs, and they all believe it’s environmental. He was prescribed hydrocortisone 1% and clotrimazole. The rash improved and then comes back even with hydrocortisone.
We’ve been using hydrocortisone for almost five weeks now, and I’m not comfortable continuing it long term.

Has anyone experienced something similar with their baby? What worked for you? I’d really appreciate any advice or insight.

hiya, same exact thing going on with my baby, he’s 5 months next week and in the same exact situation as you as only steroid creams work, but i took him to the gp again for the 5th time 2 days ago and they’ve referred him to dermatology! x

I’d look into natural holistic ways to treat the skin. Both my children have eczema; 1 is under dermatology and the other not yet as she’s still “too young”.

Look into a water filter for bathing.
Keep temp of ware at 37 degrees and only a 10 minute bath at most.
Keep clothes at 100% cotton.

Look into probiotics for baby’s gut.

I highly recommend droughts secret products

Yes we’ve experienced the exact same thing. My baby has eczema all over his body. We were using hydrocortisone cream and after about 5 weeks of using it I bit the bullet and paid to see a private dermatologist.
He believes it is environmental and advised us to switch from hydrocortisone cream to ointment and to use it twice a day for 5-6 days to get on top of the eczema and then once his skin is calmer he can be weaned off it. He basically said when you put too little of the steroid cream on you end up never getting on top of it and it will just flare as soon as you discontinue it. I also use hydromol morning and night, and epimax throughout the day.
I believe my boy reacts to dust mites as we saw the biggest change in his skin when we moved him into his own room away from our bed and carpet.
