My little one is mixed, I'm white mixed ethnicity, so not just British and her dad is half Nigerian, half Irish.
Anyway, today, a mum was looking hard at my daughter. When I turned to her she said "oh are you her mum, you look absolutely nothing a like"... My daughter has her gorgeous dad features, and curls and my eyes,.my response was yes she is my daughter "oh then I suppose she must look like her dad and what have his features?"
I didn't like the way it was delivered or the way it sounded. There was an air of, honestly racism there. From the way she stared at her to also picking out features.
I have had this once before but delivered totally differently, with "wow your daughter is gorgeous, she doesn't have your face but she for sure has your eyes".
I'm honestly not fussed about her not looking like me, she's magnificent and a beauty but to be asked if I'm her mum really hurt. I don't know why I'm writing maybe just to vent a little, people really don't think before they speak.

Someone one said as I walked by with my little one “oh a mixed race baby! How cute!”

I have had this sooo many times. My daughter isn’t mixed but I am and she is very pale and looks just like her dad. When we was on holiday (I get very tanned on holiday) I had a man ask me repeatedly if I was “sure” that I was her mum and then even asked me in his words if I “feed from the tit”! So unbelievably rude
Honestly, it's baffling keep your opinions to yourself.

I’ve gotten this sooooo many times, and once was asked if I was the nanny 🤦🏻♀️

I’m a mixed race half English half Caribbean hijabi and my daughter is very light skinned with blue eyes and whenever I’m out with my white friend people will ask her questions about her age etc as I don’t think they think I’m the mum 😩🤣 it’s a bit annoying but it is what it is. I’ve never had anyone ask though

I look them dead in the eyes and say “you mean, I’m not Black”
(Here I thought they couldn’t see color, amazing!)
