Breastfeeding & Eczema

Baby girl is 4 months old and is exclusively breastfed, she has severe eczema over her whole body. I still can’t figure what causes flare ups. Have cut out gluten, dairy and eggs for three weeks now but don’t see a big difference (I know that it can take longer to see results). I have been giving her Hannah Sillitoe probiotics for 5 days.

Has anyone out there had a positive experience with breastfeeding and cutting out allergens? If so, what did you cut out and how long till you saw results?

GP says that there’s no point in allergy testing till we start introducing solids, does anyone have experience with allergy testing under 6 months?

Any advice would be appreciated ❤️

I breastfed my son for 21 months and he is considered to have severe eczema. Mainly his face (cheeks and forehead) and patchy on his arms and behind his legs.

The dermatologist didn’t advise an elimination diet so I never did one. I didn’t ever take cows milk though due to my own endometriosis. We couldn’t connect what would trigger his flare ups but kept to natural products, we started probiotics but I don’t see a big difference.

We recently got a blood test via the GP which identified intolerances and my 2 year old has now been referred to the allergy clinic. But it was a long process to get it!

With my current baby who’s 5 months old so far we are managing it well and have yet to need dermatology yet. However we are aware flare ups may come etc
We are using Droughts Secret - rescue butter and zinc magic which helps a lot.

My boy has CMPA and egg allergy and when I cut those out of my diet all of his symptoms improved over the course of 6-8 weeks.

The thing with eczema though is so many things can trigger it so it might not even be anything in your diet.

We still struggle with his eczema as his triggers are things like water, heat and viruses.

I have a dust allergy so dust triggers mine along with changes in weather and stress.
