I had a negative test but from what i’ve researched before getting the test it’s a normal gut bacteria that lives in our bodies! They’ll just give you some antibiotics while you’re in labour. You’ll be okay :)

I was positive too. It just means there’s a type of strep bacteria living in your vagina or rectum, it’s not an STD and it’s not harmful to you. It’s pretty common.

The only reason it matters in pregnancy is that, during birth, the bacteria can sometimes cause an infection in the baby, especially if the baby is premature or extra vulnerable. But that’s why they check for it, and why treatment is super effective now.

When you go into labor or if your water breaks, you’ll get antibiotics through an IV and keep getting them until delivery. The baby will also be monitored for any signs of fever or infection after birth, just to be safe.

It’s really rare for complications to happen these days, as long as the antibiotics are started once your water breaks or labor begins. So if you ever think your water might have broken, go in and let them know right away that you’re GBS positive, they’ll admit you sooner so they can get the antibiotics started.

Its totally normal and nothing to worry about. All human beings carry normal bacteria in their gut and this happens to be one of them. It is not harmful to us but during birth, there's a tiny chance it may be passed onto the baby and because babies have pretty much zero immunity, it can be harmful to them...again that chance is still very low (1-2%). During labour, you will be administered an IV. Nothing else changes really.
No, you didn't do anything wrong. Out of my 3 pregnancies, I tested positive my first pregnancy and now again for my third one but was negative for my second baby. You may be positive for it now, but negative in another month or so.
But whatever it is, in my own experience, its nothing to worry about at all. Good luck
