Cortizone 10 and oatmeal baths. This helps my god son who has severe eczema but I would talk to your dr first about how often to use because I believe cortizone 10 has a bit of steroids

What do you wash the babies clothes with ? Go for first generation unscented soap, and you can put apple cider vinegar in for the rinse cycle.

Aveeno newborn body wash & the same lotion!! Worked wonders.

It’s a little expensive for a cream but tubby Todd has never steered us wrong

Our pediatrician said hydrocortisone 1% to get it to go away. Then aquaphor or Vaseline to maintain those areas. The hydrocortisone worked wonders for my little man. We also wear bamboo to help

Our first has always had severe eczema. She had to use a special oil to get rid of it. It was called fluocinolone 0.01 %. That just stopped working recently (she’s 3 now), and we’ve had to switch to an ointment called triamcinolone. We only use anything like that when it’s really bad. We also do Aquaphor every night, but switched to Vanicream recently based on our pediatrician’s suggestion, and we also do Zyrtec every night since she was a baby. We thought she’d grow out of it, but hasn’t yet.

I’ll tell you what not to use steroids don’t let them give that baby steroids steroid withdrawal is nothing to play with. You’d be better off leaving it the way it is and I have eczema. What you need to do is an oatmeal bath!

My son and myself have eczema pretty bad. I use Lush Coco butter and it works like a charm. However it's like 30 dollars for a smaller tub. We go through a tub a week 😅

Beef tallow or unscented goat milk lotion!

I was told a bath every night then lather in Vaseline or aquafor. Completely went away after 2 weeks. Then I bought goat milk powder from the store for their baths (mine too 😅)

I put tubby Todd on ~everything~ and it hasn’t led me wrong yet

Try to fix the Roots cause of it!! It could be hard water (just washing clothes in hard water could be enough) and make sure detergent us fully rinsed out and no parfum on you or baby (detergent unscented and no parfum on you). By expérience my babies getvrashes as soon as there is parfum or hard water even if it is just washing the clothes in the hard water

Avatar

Make sure you are using free and clear detergent

Eczema is often gut related- try Smidge infant probiotics. It’s expensive but will last over a year.

For my first born we had to get a prescription for hydrocortisone cream to use on the break outs just to take the redness out and then only lotion with aquaphor after a bath and try to keep the places of break outs keep moisturized with aquaphor I also used arm and hammer baby laundry detergent and washed his clothes in that eventually he grew out of it

Our boy has frequent eczema breakouts everywhere except hands, feet, and diaper area.

Rx - He's been prescribed Desonide and Triamcinolone. They both seemed to exacerbate the issue. His patches would get bright red, spread, and he was a lot more fussy.

OTC - Eucerin also made it worse. The only things have helped him are products from Aveeno's baby line: oatmeal bath packets, bodywash + shampoo combo, and the nighttime balm.

I've also heard good things about Happy Cappy, but we haven't used that since B's cradle cap (it worked well for that). Note: B's pediatrician said HC can be used for eczema, but do not use it on broken skin.

My son also had a bad bout of eczema. I have it as well. Echoing that eucerin only made it worse. We do a layer of aveeno baby and then a layer of aquaphor morning and night and that has made a huge difference

Try using a sensitive skin detergent for babies clothes, beef tallow for hydration, and I would start putting a drop of lavender essential oil in your lotion that you rub on him it’ll help. That’s what I did for my baby.

My boy had this beginning a couple months ago and we finally got rid of it, his skin is still a little rough until it renews itself. The rash started with redness and bumps - couldn’t get it to go away until 3 weeks ago my friend suggested I use raw 100% shea butter. It’s a good emollient and also occlusive so his skin is basically healed now. It flaked a bit as the rash healed and the skin started to shed. I’m so grateful it’s natural and works, try it!

Our doctor prescribed hydrocortisone as well and it looks much better already

Eczema is gut related and often allergy related. However our babies still have super young immune systems so im going with gut microbiome issues. We use Gaya infant and its great.

Use your own breast milk and make sure he’s not being exposed to mold in your house. I know somebody that had a baby that was and he had a skin reaction similar to this

I love all the holistic ideas but I was there when my god son had to be admitted because he would cry and scream for hours on end which sent my best friend into a deep depression. Do what works for you and baby and don’t let anyone scare you into not making your child comfortable and giving you peace of mind

Avatar

Totally agree with this. It’s so sad some moms are going to see some of these comments and be shamed into keeping their baby uncomfortable or even in pain. We did probiotics, changed her formula, aquaphor, aveeno, tubby Todd, Egyptian magic, oatmeal baths, everything that people suggested and swore by. Nothing worked. My daughter was still scratching until she bled, not able to sleep because she was so itchy and uncomfortable, crying and screaming. It was hell. I would urge anyone to speak to their pediatrician about what’s best for their baby. Every baby is different, every situation is different. We do what works for us, and what our trusted pediatrician has prescribed after we tried everything else in steps.

I forgot which one but there’s a cream from lush u heard works for this for babies. Ask ChatGPT
