Hiya girlies, I was just wondering if anyone had any tips or tricks to help my 1 year old little girl. It is currently 3:50am and we have been up since 11:45pm because my daughter is just coughing and coughing and coughing. We have previous of being in hospital with bronchiolitis needing oxygen and feeding tubes. And she can decline rapidly with it. She’s been given a brown and blue inhaler but tonight nothing seems to be working. She’s getting herself all worked up because she can’t get comfy to sleep because she just keeps coughing. She’s got a borderline temp of 37°c but she’s very clammy and just inconsolable. I’ve done calpol, saline spray, her blue inhaler multiple times, albas oil. Just wondering if anyone has any tips or recommendations before I either ring 111 or take her to a&e. Which is a last resort.

Oh bless her this sounds rough - we’re at the stage ‘before’ and the cough is just awful. Sorry I don’t have any proper advice, just empathy and solidarity. Due to the previous I’d probably say 111 as it’s better to be safe than sorry. Hope she is on the mend really soon x

Oh poor thing. Lots of fluids, and I find a bath helps when my asthma gets worse x

Have you got a humidifier? This helps when my LO has a cough and also raising the cot at one end slightly, but definitely worth taking her to be checked out based on her past history. Hope she feels better soon x

Also it’s an old wives tale but I do it anyway and do think it helps but I chop an onion up and place next to her bed x

Have you tried a humidifier in her room with the Albus oil? It might help add some moisture to the air for less irritation, or running a hot shower and sitting in the steam with her. If it continues call 111 as children do deteriorate quick. Try getting her to sip water too, if she won't try ice lollies or water in a spoon or syringe so she has a little at a time, with the syringe you can measure how much she's having. I also find if I'm holding my son he's comforted enough to fall asleep sometimes, it makes him more calm. He's 4.5 and was crying with an earache the other night, he had paracetamol but was so distressed by it. I just sat And held him and he drifted off.
Thank you everyone for your lovely words. I rang 111 and they sent an ambulance to us to go to hospital with her previous admissions with bronchiolitis. Tested for RSV and that came back negative thankfully. Xx
