Hi there my LO is almost 5 months and we are thinking of starting daycare once I am back in the UK and he would be around 7 months then. The issue is he is stuck to me at all times and sleeps on me. He is super cranky before sleeping and generally has a meltdown before falling asleep at times. Are daycares/ nurseries used to this issue? I am getting him to sleep by himself but it is turning out to be next to impossible. Does it get better with time? I am fretting about the daycare/ nursery folks sending him back and I can't afford that since I would have to join work then. Any similar experiences??

I can only share my experience with my first born. She started nursery at 11 months, and up until then she was alway with me...contact napping or sleeping in the buggy, needed to rock her to sleep, always me. Never "just fell asleep by herself", never!
I think we were lucky to get a lovely young nursery practitioner, who became my girl's keyworker. I asked her to please do everything in her power to get her to nap, as if she misses her nap, she will be an absolute disaster. The practitioner was lovely, and she made an effort to figure out ways, and she got my girl nap in a swingie-bouncy seat...all her friends napped in cots or mattresses, but the practitioner respected that mine is not managing with that just yet and did what she could to ensure that baby is well rested. My girl got used to that, and a few months later they managed to transition her to sleep on a mat on the floor just as some of the other babies. No cry, no sleep training, and I credit it to that lovely practitioner.
