Maternity pay struggles
How is everyone managing maternity leave? My job pays my maternity but I’m literally on the bones of my arse at the minute, my fiancé is obviously helping financially but I’ve never wanted to depend on just his wages, my wage has gone from 4 figures down to 3 and im worried I’m going to struggle with bills. We applied for universal credit before baby got here but the most we got was £15 and now we aren’t entitled to anything apparently, I tried to apply for the £500 maternity grant but can’t get that either because of the income. Is there anything I can claim just from my income?

Have you applied for child benefit?
I think we’re all in the same boat. Now I’m on statutory pay it’s over a grand less than when I’m working and I am STRUGGLINGGGGGG. I’m literally having the take money out of my savings on the regular just to pay for food and petrol 🙃🙃 lucky to have savings- annoying I’m having to use it for essentials
I feel you! My pay has just dropped from 4 figures to 3 and the shock was unreal. SMP just isn’t enough. I’m working through my finances and just going into sheer panic. I feel like there should be more support for mums so they don’t have to return early
I am struggling! We don’t get much help because of my husbands earnings but that doesn’t take things like mortgage and other outgoings into account 😭 I’m still trying to help with food bills and fuel but it’s leaving me with no extra and it’s so hard! Ironically it’ll get even worse when I go back to work
I’m only managing by relying on my partner’s wages. We’re not able to save anything at the end of the month once we’ve paid for all the basics. I’ve been on SMP since day 1 as my company didn’t offer an enhanced policy and then child benefit on top of that. We don’t qualify for universal credit as together we earn above the threshold😩 it’s TOUGH!
Credit card is taking a battering!!
Struggling to, I got made redundant end of last year so my current income is £0 🙃. We dont get any help, not even child benefits because of my husbands salary so really not helpful when we have some hefty bills each month!
