I need help getting an EA job

I have looked at job descriptions for EA jobs and can see i am able to perform well in the role except - travel arrangements.
I've just seen one of these jobs and one of the duties includes "Arrange complex international and domestic travel, itineraries and logistics"...

Can someone please explain briefly what this entails, do you know of any video online i can watch to enlighten me? Do I just go on airline websites and buy travel tickets and send to the 'boss'?
Any advise will help please. I'm doing all I can to leave universal credit. I'm so frustrated 😔

Hi there! I was an EA for executives for years. What that means really depends on the company/person you are working for. I’ve worked in companies where they have a travel agent like Amex for example and you just call them and ask for options for the specific trip. Then send this to your boss to choose and approve and they will send you the invoice for you to reconcile (if that’s also part of your role). Other companies, you have to do all of that yourself. That means going online, checking airlines and travel options, put them all together and send over. Sometimes with hotel, sometimes not (that also requires to offer options). As well, you have several trips you may need to link, for example I once had my boss in 3 different time zones (far from each other) in 48h. To be honest, that’s probably the part of the job that is more of common sense but you do need to be really creative sometimes and think of alternatives that may not be straightforward in the beginning. Being an EA heavily depends on how easy or difficult is the person you’re working with and how well you gel so I would say start maybe with a team or a junior person, don’t go straight for the execs. A team has other difficulties as it will be more people but tend to be less difficult and more understanding that you work across the whole team.
Hope that helps you and feel free to ask any other questions. Good luck! (2/2)
