Answer hypothetically if it doesn't apply~

Do you believe your longterm partner (not the father of your child/ren) should have solo/quality time with your child for the sole purpose of them developing a relationship?

More specifically, should this be something that is intentionally done or should it be more organic/as a family? If not, in what other ways do you think that relationship will grow?
Other thoughts welcome~ I'm interested in seeing from another pov

I think if I had a longterm partner who wanted to be in my life forever, he should want to build a relationship with my children.

He should want to be in their lives because he wants to be in mine. He should want to have a wonderful bond and therein a happier household. He should love them as if they were his own, protect them, care for them.

If that means having 1-2-1 time so be it. As long as the children want that too then go wild!

As a stepmom I made an effort to have intentional 1:1 time with my stepdaughters. We also had organic 1:1 time and spent a lot of time just the 3 of us without their dad.

I think organic is best and sometimes it takes time to build those types of relationships. Typically I think they’re easier to form the younger the child is.
But if the child is ok with spending that solo quality time together as unforced as possible then I think that’s great and says a lot. They see something in the partner and want to try and bond and vice versa. I love questions like this lol.

Having been the step child because I was a girl my step dad felt weird on doing 1:1 activities or even with my brothers I was always left out and triggered abandonment issues from already having an absent in/out father. My brothers would always get taken to do things or “boy stuff”, I always wished there was more effort because I wanted to do father/daughter dances and had someone my mom would have us call dad but I never got to do those things.

If a man is in your life as your partner, he should be in your kids life as well.

I think a natural organic relationship is extremely important. Intentional 1:1 shouldn't come until the child shows that's what they want or they ask to go and do "x, y, z" thing with your partner.
1:1 too soon is just creepy and weird and tbh it could never come to 1:1 and that's fine, too. For example: I love my ex fil and he's more like my dad than my actual dad. I still don't want to spend a lot of time solo with him lol

Living in a new relationship he has taken three of my kids in as his own and he has a struggling bond with the two older kids but with my 8 year old he loves her like his own and I'm so greatful for him to do that. And I gave him two beautiful babies as well and he is just a really great father and great bond with them all. It's up to that person as well

At the beginning they should happen as a family and we take it from there. There are 1:1 opportunities that will naturally appear such as giving a ride, fixing a bike, shopping, etc, and later those can become their special 1:1 moments in the long term. After the football match, they can stop to have an ice cream...

I wouldn't block 1:1 time from the beginning, push it neither announce it, but let it happen or arrange it depending on the relationship they have.

We like to do things as a family. But if I was busy and dad was going to do some grocery shop for me, it’s fine to ask if dad would take the LO along too.
If you want /need some alone /me time, by all means ask for some. I’ve been to dinner with a gf and daddy had their daddy and son time together.
It just sometimes happens. We don’t have to set it up as a regular thing, but you could if they want to

My younger bro has a step son and step daughter. They were 8 and 12 or 9 and 13 when they moved in with him. He treats them as his own. 1 on 1 time as well.
