WWYD - Birthday Party Numbers

We are going to an outdoor forest school type place for son’s birthday and they have a max number of 30 children.

There are 31 children in his class and then we have 3 additional childhood friends on top of that - he wants to invite everyone. I had a look at the list and it doesn’t feel fair to cut out a very small number of children from his class so I feel my only option is to invite everyone and hope that 4 can’t make it/already have plans.

Would you do the same?

Based from experience, out of 30 I would expect at least 5 of them to be unable to come or to not even respond to the invites. So I think inviting them all would be safe.

We invited close to 30 for my son’s birthday and only 1 didn’t show up and that’s only because her mum got the date mixed up. What would the solution be if everyone does show up? Personally I would choose a venue that could accommodate everyone. Maybe call them and see if they’d make an exception for 1 additional child, and then do something different another day with the non-class friends?

I would contact the venue and ask if its an absolute no go for a possible few extras. They may say its ok! From birthday party's ive been lately though, mums always say a good few say no

Invite them all but say they have to rsvp due to limited space. That way if you do go over the number you can be like sorry no more room.

We did a class party and 16 accepted however 11 turned up due to a bug circulating. I think you should be ok x

I'd invite them all because truthfully, not all will come.

everybody won’t show up. only expect 30% turnout maximum!

edit: remember that everybody has their own lives, family members, problems, schedules, etc. so some ppl probably already have plans on that day

I’d invite class friends first and see what you get back and then if you have space invite the non school. If you have no space you can do a mini get together with the outside friends instead. X
