So I didn't do an NCT group with my first boy back in 2022 as I couldn't afford it but I've heard people raving it and that they still meet up with their group several years later. I've been debating signing up to one as I can probably afford it this time around but wasn't sure if it's worth it given that I already know how to look after a baby? Or is it more about the friends you make? I'd probably have to go alone due to childcare so my husband would stay with our son.. I dont know im hesitant over whether I should use the money for something better or if I attend a different type of group instead? I dont know whats everyone else doing?

I am in the exact same boat! I’ve seen they do like “refresher” type courses for 2nd babies, however from what I can see, they are only online ☹️

It really worked for us, and we did it for the friendship group. There were 8 couples in are sessions and during maternity leave I met up with most of the mums weekly. We still meet up and so do the dads and then we do big meet ups a few times a year.
But, it’s no guarantee. I’ve had some friends that didn’t gel with their group and don’t see them.
This time round, I’m going to a pregnancy yoga group. I did it with my first and lots of the women gelled through that. I didn’t so much because of my NCT group, but this time round I think I’m more likely to have friends that way, especially as it’s a blend of second time mums and first time mums

I was tempted to do one but kind of thought it's just a con into paying for friends with babies 😂

I did an NCT group with my first but wouldn’t for a second baby. Everyone in our group was having a first baby and the bond came from the overwhelm and the questions we asked each other.
Can you instead use the money to go to groups during maternity leave and make friends that way?

I've signed up for one and I like that the classes fund their work to support vulnerable and marginalised mums. my sister-in-law found it useful and still keeps in touch with everyone 😊

What's an NCT group?

I didn’t learn really anything about caring for a baby etc. I had already been a nanny for other people’s babies though. I went as I wanted to meet friends. I met my best best friend there and we are still bestest friends 3 years later. Our toddlers are besties and I would have hated to do postpartum without her :) xxxx
