Matrescence is the profound physical, psychological, and emotional transformation of becoming a mother - it still isn’t in the dictionary.
And that says a lot.
We’re on a mission with Tommee Tippee to change that. But this only works if we show up in numbers.
If you’ve lived matrescence, you know it deserves language. Add your name. https://www.change.org/p/it-s-time-to-gaf-about-mothers-add-matrescence-to-the-dictionary.

I recall when my ‘mommy senses’ began to kick in when I was 4mths pregnant with my eldest.
One morning I woke up to the sound of my neighbour walking up and down her stairs! We shared a wall, but I never heard her before that one day. She wasn’t stomping nor running, just plan walking and I just couldn’t sleep. After a few times, I broke down crying downstairs. I got so emotional over so unexpectedly.
From that day on, I’d hear every single time any of my kids woke or even stirred.
Mother Nature wanted to ensure we are well equipped with super sonic hearing to protect our kids.
I know that forgetfulness is one thing I got, but it was more than just forgetting many things, but my mind had prioritised me to remember things regarding looking after my children’s needs first instead.
Matrescence is truly amazing and real!

i’ve never gone through this and i’m 4 months PP. i don’t understand myself through experiences how you lose yourself etc. but i feel for you all and you’re incredible. don’t be so hard on yourselves. ❤️

That’s beautifully written thanks for sharing ❤️ I also have supersonic hearing and I’ve found myself incredibly instinctual and maternal. I feel like a completely different person because of it. It really is a strange feeling

I’m not spending time and energy on this performative PR stunt. Parents need universal pre-K, single payer healthcare, subsidized childcare, federally protected PAID parental leave, access to abortion and other reproductive are, and systemic support. But I don’t care about this addition to the US lexicon.

I was today years old when I found out that IDGAF is in the dictionary 🤦🏾♀️
