Scary 24 hours…

My baby was born on the 19th February… it has been a dream. Well yesterday morning I started hemmorhaging at home and had to get ambulance to hospital. They have found leftover tissue and clots from my pregnancy and birth left inside my uterus and womb so I’m waiting for an operation today to get cleared out. I am so scared as I’ve never been put to sleep so my emotions are all over the place. Guess this is just a little rant or whatever as I’m just scared and nervous. Wish me luck😢❤️

I had that after a d&c from a missed miscarriage at 12 weeks last January, I went for a wee, got up off the toilet and blood started pouring out, I thought I was going to die on the loo!! My husband was so sick with hand foot and mouth he hadn't eaten in 3 days so I had to get my friend to drive me to a&e 😅 I had another d&c the next day. I was also petrified of being put to sleep for the first 'surgery' but honestly it was great, you literally pass out and wake up in recovery 😊 but I was scared as I'd never had anaesthetic before so didn't know how I'd react. You might feel a bit queasy and I was wiped out for 3 days both times. Make sure you get on to your doctor and get prescribed iron if you lost a lot of blood, I was passing out massive clots the size of my fist when I was waiting for the surgery in the afternoon (I had retained sac, placenta and my womb lining was still really thick but the second surgeon sorted me out and she also did my c section for this baby, she was really nice to me both times).

Also it can feel a bit weird waking up, I was so scared the first time and obviously just found out I'd miscarried so was in pieces about that and I started to cry as I got put under and woke up crying for a second or two and felt really disorientated but it wears off really quickly. I found the procedure made me feel sore for a few days and you have a catheter in so you have to stay in hospital for a bit after til you can pee, and they might check your blood count to see if you need blood. I lost loads and still didn't need one although I was borderline so fingers crossed you won't. I'm not sure of the stats post pregnancy but after a d&c retained products are a 1 in 20 chance so fairly common. Oh the midwife also gave misoprostol whilst I was waiting for surgery to see if anything would pass naturally and that gave me diarrhea so if you get given that that's a common side effect.

sending you so much love & well wishes. I had a PPH with both of my babies and it is scary. Take time to heal mentally and don’t be afraid to reach out for some help if needed. I went through talking therapy and found it really help with my first xx
