Our first child (girl), had hip displasia and now we are due a second (boy) and just wondering for those of you who had a second, did they also have hip problems?

I had two girls without and then my third girl has hip dysplasia. I am one of three girls and the first and third had it but my middle sister didn’t. I don’t think it’s something you can predict. Though I think it’s more common in girls and runs in families x
That’s really interesting, did you have it as a child?
I’m aware the percentage is higher for the second child but doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll happen x

Hip dysplasia is more common in the first born female child, my Dr told me that it is unlikely that subsequent children would have it. Unless there is a genetic predisposition for hip dysplasia, or the parent has problems with more than one joint set. Things like eds, non eds hypermobility, frequent subluxation/dislocation not associated with injury, are often considered as a conditions that could indicate that a infant may develop hip dysplasia.
that’s really useful information. I suffered with it as a child so I feel it’s genetic from me

I will say that from everything that I know about the condition it's more common in women because of the way female born hips are structured. Males can have it but it's less common.
Fingers crossed for your little to be unaffected

Our first had DDH and put into a harness at 13 days old, our second has 'immature hips' and we have to go back for a repeat scan when she is 10 weeks to see if its improved x
