Would you rather a refrigerator in your kitchen where a cabinet doesn’t open, or a refrigerator in your small dining room area?

The previous tenant kept the refrigerator in the kitchen.

Where is the cook top? Where do you do most of your meal prep? I would base my decision on that. If I'm going in and out of the fridge constantly I want it to be accessible when I'm cooking.

that’s a good point for accessibility! The cooktop goes next to the sink. We just got a new one to replace the previous one and it hasn’t been installed yet.

If you didn't know, most fridge doors can be switched by the hinges so they open from whatever side is most convenient for you, so if you do put it in the dining area, make sure it opens from the kitchen side for accessibility.

thanks!

Depends on cabinet space for me. If you have enough to not be worried about losing access to one cabinet then kitchen but if you need that storage space and for it to be easily accessible then dining area

I personally would want the extra space in the kitchen to move around, I’d rather have the fridge be in that lil cubbie space

I misunderstood and voted keep in kitchen, thinking you meant where the red circle is, rather than that being the dining room. Given that the dining room and kitchen are basically one big room I’d put it in the dining room, it’s so nearby I don’t think it’d make a difference!x

Accessibility wise you probably wouldn’t notice that much while you’re doing prep etc. My fridge is not in the kitchen cus there’s no space, but there was a cubby just outside of the kitchen where it is. Makes no difference to me :)

If you don’t have a integrated trash can you might find it works well in that corner where the fridge is

Thanks for the suggestions! We were able to remove the existing cabinet that was in the dining room, so we’re going to just leave it up to the next tenants. Space wise for the kitchen, it would be better without the refrigerator to access the storage. The last tenant didn’t cook much and would order a lot of door dash, so it didn’t bother her.

that’s a good point! I have no clue where the previous tenant kept her trash can. I was thinking it could also be useful for a microwave cart or more pantry storage. I just wasn’t sure if people would think it’s tacky.
