I know with chickenpox you should avoid ibuprofen and avoid it before or directly after the vaccine but not sure how much time passed of considered ok.
My son had his vaccine on Thursday and his temp has gone up but nothing too high, now it’s close to 39 and I’m concerned as paracetamol just isn’t cutting it this time.
Has anyone given their child ibuprofen a few days after the vaccine?

Damn, I wasn't told this and have been giving it for the last 2 days (he had his jabs Thursday). He's still had fever today (got a cold and molars coming through on top of having the jabs) so I spoke to pharmacist who said just keep up with calpol and ibuprofen.

Good to know thanks, I've now googled it and it say immediately before or after it can decrease the effectiveness of the vaccine. I wish the nurse giving them would have advised us of this. It was at least 24 hours after the shots that we gave him the ibuprofen, as his fever was delayed and we started with calpol first, so hopefully we gave enough of a gap between.

Just out of interest, has your childs temperature been on and off? My son has been up and down since Thursday. I thought it would subside by now but it hasn't. I read you don't have to give calpol etc if they are not distressed or acting unwell and I don't want to just keep dosing him, but also worried it will keep climbing if I don't give him anything.

I had hope this morning, it hit 40.5 last night...I got up every couple of hours to check. It went back down and stayed down all day until about 4pm when it was back to 39.
I know the jabs are necessary and it would be worse if he got any of the illnesses, but it's killing me seeing him so miserable.

Hopefully it passes for him. I've kept him off nursery again today as he still isn't right. He's with my husband who I can 100% rely on to look after him, but today is the first day I've had tears feeling like I'm prioritising my job over my son.
