Crochet 🧶

Hey all , i need a side hustle for when my little boy arrives in July; I tried to turn my crocheting into a side hustle over the years (on and off) but I was definitely underselling myself and working myself to the bone for nothing, I’d like to give it a try again but wouldn’t know what things to make — would probably just sell finished items as and when I finish them rather than custom stuff.

Do you think it’s a better idea, selling as I go along rather than trying to churn out products? Would ideally like to stick to things for babies (blankets, beanies, booties etc)

Perhaps start with selling as you go and see what sells best. I see many homemade items on vinted. You could sell on there to see how much interest items get?

Never under price yourself 🩵
I would say if your looking to sell as and when you complete definitely jump onto Vinted as your not hit with any Fees for selling and postage is paid by the buyers!
Also Facebook market place can be great because it keeps you local so if someone really takes a shine to your items they can find you easy 🧶

Have you tried making patterns with Excel and then selling on Etsy or Gumroad? It’s a good way to sell the same thing several times x

I’m a professional knitter and like Kate said, found that selling patterns on Etsy and ravelry was the way forward - although I’ve been doing it for over 10 years full time now, so that’s easy for me to say. When I take on commissioned pieces I charge at least £150 day rate. Sincerelylouise on instagram 😊

I used to crochet baby blankets, mobiles and booties. The blankets were a hit and I sold them for £150 each. I don’t make them anymore as they’re too time consuming for me.
