Help

Hi, it’s looking like I have experienced a missed miscarriage and have an appointment at the hospital tomorrow. I really don’t want to tell work as I don’t want them to know I am trying for a baby. Any idea what I can say? 😩 there’s a possibility I may need some time Thursday afternoon aswell if they do my bloods and ask me to come back…

Just tell them it’s no biggy or their business plus honestly best policy and they will likely be more understanding. Or make something up like I have D n V n I’ll be off till Thursday

I’m so sorry this has happened. I had a missed miscarriage a few years ago and found out at my first scan. You need to take some time to recover both mentally and physically. I had to have a D&C so had additional time off for that but your body will still need time.
In relation to telling work, they won’t know that you were trying, it could have been an accident for all they will know. I personally ended up finding it useful that I told them and it helped in the aftermath but you do whatever you feel best for you.

Thanks both, Bethany how was the D&C? This is what I’m fearing. Is it a same day operation?

Im so sorry, its such an awful thing to go through. I told my boss when I had a MMC in 2021. I needed a week off and 2 weeks working from home. It will allow them to be compassionate with you which you really need.

I’m so sorry. I had a MMC in 2023, hadn’t told my work I was pregnant but telling them helped as they were supportive with time off for D&C, and when I became pregnant again I told them straight away and they understood my history, anxieties and put risk assessments in early.
D&C for me was relatively painless, in and out the same day. Wishing you the best in your physical and mental recovery ❤️
