Ear infection

Hi mamas!

My 14-month-old had a follow-up appointment today for an ear infection. She just finished 10 days of amoxicillin, but the doctor said she still has some fluid in her ears and that it should clear up with time.
Has anyone else experienced this? Did the fluid eventually clear on its own?
She’s also barely eating solids right now and mostly wants to breastfeed. The doctor suggested I start weaning her during the day so she’ll eat more, but I’m not sure if this is the right time since she’s still recovering. Has anyone weaned while their little one was sick? Any advice would be appreciated 💛

I have no advice but I’m currently going through the same thing. My son will be one on Wednesday and we’re 4 days on the amoxicillin 😭 first ear infection and it’s awful he is in such pain and has a fever. He’s also refusing almost all solids so I’m letting him nurse as much as he wants but he’s not even wanting it too much

My little one was already weaned off when he had serious ear infection. He recovered just fine within a week! Although he didn’t eat solid until later, he found comfort is warm puree, milk and warm water, warm soup etc

Hi mama personally I wouldn't wean just yet. Antibiotics kill the gut which is crucial for health and breastfeeding is the best way to get your babies gut back to normal. As far as ear infections my son had 3 in 3 months and the first two times I gave him antibiotics but the last time I tried garlic mullein drops and it got rid of it. Every time he gets a cold now I give him these drops and it prevents ear infections. Even his ENT said his ears look good. He still has fluid because that can take forever to drain but wanted to give you a more natural approach. When I asked the ENT about it he says many moms swear by it but that he doesn't have "scientific" data to prove it works but that he doesn't feel it will cause any harm. Worth a shot. If you decide to use it naw sure your babies ear drum is intact though
