Does your baby behave differently at nursery

Recently our baby has started to walk (not all the time but more and more) and also say lots of words. However, the nursery say he never walks at all, or says any words (just bottom shuffles about still). I think he’s pretty quiet all day at nursery. At home he’s absolutely nonstop babble , noise , chat , words. They always says he’s had a happy day and very smiley, but I just get the feeling he acts like a totally different baby there ! Is that normal bless them, where they don’t feel at home to be themselves ?

My daughter was walking at daycare but not at home for a while... once we found out I stopped carrying her places around the house. She soon caught on.

exact same as me! we started nursery last week and our boy doesn’t walk there (he’s practically running at home), he doesn’t make noise there either but at home he’s so loud. they said he just needs to get his confidence in a new place and adjust to being away from us.

it breaks my heart to think he’s not his usual confident self there but i think it’s just a huge adjustment for them

They say babies act more as themselves in places and with people they feel most safe with. I guess that’s the case with you as home.

Perhaps he doesn’t feel as safe there, or the teachers they are not as nice to your baby as they may seem.

Where we live, we have a Montessori preschool. We went to check it out a couple of weeks ago, and the teachers seemed so nice and friendly( honestly I though it was to forced on/ kind of fake)
Turns out I was right, the other day I was in our community garden with my son, and the preschool teachers were there with the children. Half of teachers were on the phone, and the rest didn’t interact at all with the kids. One child felt down and starts crying, none of them went to him to reassure him that everything was okay.
In that moment I knew that I did my best, following my gut instinct and didn’t pay the deposit and registration fee they were pressuring me to do. There is no way I will leave my child with those kind of people!

I’m know not everyone has the opportunity to stay at home with their LO, but I would make sure my son/daughter it’s happy to be going nursery. Any small withdrawal I would question, considering they cannot talk at this age. Anyways Good Luck.
