As a biologist all i think about when i see matrescense is senescence https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0171933520300479 which relates to cells ageing and dying and quiescence which is where genes or cells go into quiet mode n stop doing much… matrescence just makes me think death of ur old brain but not about the amazing process of brain development going on 🤷♀️ was the original anthropologist using the right etymology when they coined the phrase!!! 🤣😅🫠 sorry for adding my confusion to the discussion
