Collecting colostrum, is it safe at 36 weeks?

Some say 36 weeks, some say 37 weeks, I don't want to do it now (I'm 36 weeks) if it's too early, but does a week make a difference? I'm confused 🥲 help
(If it matters, this is my second child)

When I was expecting my first baby I wanted to extract colostrum (can't remember when it could be done . But I suppose it's 37 as your baby is considered safe to be delivered). I never could do it and got very frustrated and gave up. After my baby was born I got 2.5 years of successful breastfeeding. So in case it doesn't work, don't pressure yourself so much about it. ☺️

Colostrum collection is not something that has to be done, so why chance it and do it early? Just wait a week, or wait til your boobs start leaking.

yeah 37 weeks is considered term so it’s safe to hand express, but anything that ur leaking u can collect whenever

i’d always go 37 bc idk if its the same where u are but anything before 37 weeks would have to go to nicu or have steroids for their lungs due to it being classed as preterm and i dont think its worth the risk x

>36 weeks is preterm , 37 weeks is early term , 38< is full term

I would say 37 weeks unless stated different by your midwife. Im given the all clear to collect from 36 weeks only due to being induced at 37 weeks.

you can collect drip anytime, cant express til min 36 weeks and pump from 38 xx

Because hand expressing can possibly trigger labor, the safest to do it is 37weeks.

Sometimes people have been told earlier weeks based on THEIR situation and so they think it’s universal. But generally it’s 37weeks since that’s early term.

Friends wedding abroad

Hi all. I know this is FTM... But really need advice. I am currently pregnant with baby #2. Only 8 weeks. I didn't want to tell anyone yet, my partner and boss knows (needed for risk assessment reasons annoyingly). My friend is getting married in a remote part of Spain in ~3 months. I've already had a few minor complications, pain, bleeding, vanishing twin... I got preeclampsia last pregnancy and a terrible birth.
I am pretty sure I don't feel comfortable flying and then travelling out to a remote part of Spain during pregnancy. It will just be me and my toddler. I know it's overcautious but I just don't feel comfortable. I'm not even sure if I am going to be classified as high risk pregnancy or not.
How do I handle this? I need to tell her ASAP, but I didn't really want to tell anyone yet as doc told me miscarriage risk is a bit increased with vanishing twin. Any ideas?

Anxious/depressed

My first pregnancy symptom was my anxiety out of nowhere. I feel like I'm a bundle of nerves and just so scared of everything. Is anyone else feeling similar? How are you managing? Are we contributing it to hormones?
