I have been potty training my daughter since august 2025. She is getting there and goes for wee’s on the toilet and hardly any accidents but struggling doing poos she just does it in her pants. We went to the doctors as I thought it was hurting her but doesn’t make a difference and keeps doing it in her pants. She knows she has done it but doesn’t tell me until I can smell it then keeps saying sorry. Any advice? Thank you

I don't think there's a ton we can do i think we just keep encouraging and eventually it clicks. I spent ages trying to potty train my son, probably like 18 months and he just didn't really want to know, might occasionally go but it general he'd just go on the floor or his pants. Then just before Christmas he randomly asked if he could take his nappy off and just started using the potty and we took him out to by pants of his choice which hes been wearing since. We still had a ton of accidents and poo's have definitely been the trickiest (i think he was embarrassed maybe) but we finally seem to be getting there this month...

I would try going back to the start and have a couple days of not leaving the house and just go bare bottom. I’d watch her like a hawk and when she sneaks off to have a poo put her on the potty/toilet and see if that helps re-set the cycle for her xx

This happened for months with us, he started to hold it in which was awful and so painful for him but eventually it just clicked. He still is a bit funny about it and will only go at home so holds it in at childcare but the accidents have stopped
