I haven’t been to the hairdressers in over 10 years as I usually trim my hair at home with a blunt cut.
I have fine hair but it’s not thin or thick and I’m stuck on whether I want long or minimal layers or any at all and keep it blunt as when I last got layers in a different hairdresser’s, it ruined my hair and made it look thin and flicky so blunt cuts were the best but I want abit more movement in my hair especially if I’m styling it as I also want to keep the length.
I also want face framing layers but not dramatic or usual style, would that be bangs? The shortest part would be from my chin potentially where my bottom lip finishes.
How do I put this across to the hairdresser to make sense? It’s making me anxious as I’m worried it won’t be what I asked for 😅😂

I would see if you can find a photo online of someone with the hairstyle you're looking for for reference so there's no misinterpretation!

if you explain it to them like you have in the post and explain your concerns about what happened previously they might be able to help you work out with will look best for your face shape and hair type

Hey! I’m a hairdresser, just my personal opinion, if you want to keep it as thick as possible, keep it one length blunt and you can still have the face framing around the front, however if you want some movement, you could possibly get away with longer layers depending on how thick your hair actually is, no choppy layers, you want them soft layers, I would say the face framing starting from the chin isn’t bangs, it’s just shorting face framing blended into the rest of your side!
I hope this makes sense xxx

I'd look for something similar to what you like on Pinterest. I got a long butterfly cut with long layers with the long bangs below my lips as you mentioned
