Hi, I’m just looking for a bit of advice or reassurance as I’m feeling a bit unsure about what’s going on.
My baby is 6 weeks old and over the last 3 days she’s suddenly started pooing loads, basically with every feed. Before this she was going about once a day. It’s making her really sore and she gets quite distressed, especially during changes.
I went to the GP mainly because of reflux, and they advised anti-reflux formula which we’ve started and it does seem to be helping the sickness. They didn’t seem concerned about the pooing, but something just doesn’t feel quite right to me.
The increase in pooing actually started before we changed formula, which is what’s confusing me. It just feels like a lot for a formula-fed baby to be going this often.
She also seems quite uncomfortable at times, straining and getting upset.
Has anyone experienced anything similar around this age? Is this something that can be normal or worth getting checked again?
Thank you

It looks a little runny but normal colour! Change of formula can cause a change in habit because their body is adjusting, but if it started before it might be that her bowels are maturing. My boy wouldn’t go for 5 days sometimes, he’s now changed to roughly 3 days but is now on carobel thickener. If you’re unsure and it’s not normal for your baby, then get it checked! You know your baby best xx
