I am 34 weeks tomorrow and have been booked to have an induction at 37 weeks due to my waters leaking! They let me know today that I will be induced using the hormone drip and ive heard so many negative stories about the hormone drip and I also had a very negative induction on my first little girl. So I am looking into having an elective section instead. I know they can be frowned upon and I also know the recovery is alot harder than vaginally birth. But I genuinely think its my best option for me especially as my we live so far away from family and need to have someone come stay with our daughter.
Any advice would be appreciated on what to expect.

No advise as I haven’t been in the same situation but I would also choose a section over induction. I feel like you can go in already knowing what will happen and have the support for after care planned. With induction you never know and you can always end up in theatre x

Hey, I'm also 34 weeks tomorrow! My waters started leaking with our son (he's 4 in May) at 35 weeks. My labour didn't progress at all so at 36+6 they took me in and induced me with the hormone drip the next morning. It started at 9am on the Friday and he was born at 1.59 on Saturday morning weighing 5lbs 4oz.
I have said I wouldn't be against an induction again. This time our son is already predicted at 5lbs 4oz at 33 weeks although I've been diagnosed with gestational diabetes 2 weeks ago and I'm now swaying towards an elective section instead.
I can't compare it to anything else but for me the induction was not something that put me off having another but it's the diabetes side effects that have me questioning a section this time. X

You can ask for a different type of induction? Or a membrane sweep?

No, I think you're making the right choice for you. I had a very traumatic induced labour with my son that ended in an emergency c section so I've refused all induction methods this time. Instead I've booked an elective for if I go overdue at just over 41 weeks, but if I was in your position I would do exactly the same thing, elective over induction any day! Recovery from an emergency c section is a lot harder, I've generally heard very positive things about electives and most of my friends have been back on their feet pretty quickly x

Honestly the hormone for me with my first caused all sorts of issues and ended up in an emergency C-section which I believe is pretty common. this time round I’ve got gestational diabetes and on insulin so been told she’ll be coming at 38 weeks. Instantly chose a C-section, not just because of the risks but I know I can’t go through all the long route of being induced. I’d rather just know I’m comfortable going into that theatre without having to have the health issues first
