I recently had a growth scan and baby is 3 pounds and 13 oz I’m currently 29 weeks and 1 day. I’ve been told that they want to check for diabetes next week. Is there anything to worry about?

Hey! So my baby was 5lb 1 at 31 weeks and 6lb 11 at 33 weeks. I’m actually only way to my next growth scan now!
I passed the GTT at 29 weeks but repeated that today too. My fasting sugars were well in so let’s see the 2 hour result tomorrow!
My first baby was 9lb 11 so I’m convinced I just make big babies! Their dad is 6ft 2 and I’m 5ft 6 so neither short. My first wasn’t chunky just super long!
A few things, are you or dad tall?
Do big babies run in your family?
Is the whole of baby on the higher centiles or just their tummy?
Do you have polyhydramnios or just a ‘big baby’?
All in all it’s a precaution. Lots of people have ‘big babies’ with no other issues. I’d highly recommended looking into the big baby trial and its findings. Lots of babies they claim are big, actually aren’t! x

I was diagnosed with GD at 28 weeks, I'm now 33 weeks, my GD is controlled by diet (tbh I've not really had to change much) baby is measuring a little big 2lb 13oz - 81st percentile at 28 weeks, 4lb 5oz - 77th percentile at 32 weeks, I've got my next growth scan next week, but all in all everyone is really happy and I'm just getting regular monitoring.
Like yasmin says some people do just have big babies, I'm also 5ft 6 and my partner is 5ft 10 so not very tall but also not short.
Also it's worth remembering that even with ultrasounds they can be wrong on the size by 15%.
