Hi all! Has anyone had a planned c-section? Starting to think that’s my best and safest option as my babs is measuring quite big and I’m on the smaller side (logistically I don’t think a natural birth will work out for me 😅). Heard good things about planned sections, I know emergency sections are different but any first hand experience would be informative!

I had mine march 3rd! I personally wouldn't have one again personally however it was a lovely experience and the pain subsides quickly

I have had 2, both experiences were very calm and lovely.
First was in 2023 due to a breech baby but I found recovery very tough and I didn’t want another one.
I had my second almost 2 weeks ago via an elective due to medical reasons as I wasn’t allowed a VBAC. This time I have recovered much quicker and doing far more than I was able to do at this same point in 2023.
My c section scar was also reopened (emergency operation) Dec 2024 and this recovery was by far the longest… probably due to emergency nature and complications.
Personally, I think it depends on so many factors as to how well somebody recovers as each experience is so different. Ultimately, whatever the safest option is for you and baby is always the best decision ☺️
Good luck!

I had my planned csection on the 6th and the experience was great, inwas discharged the following day, felt pretty good from the get go, my scar is healing well and overall im feeling really good - now 12 days PP and my pain is alot less and im more comfortable!
I had an emergency with my first after a long labour and honestly i found that experience and recovery positive too and much similar to this time - just that the planned section was nicer than doing labour first!

So I had my planned section last night for a suspected big baby. So many people tried to convince me to go for an induction instead. But I stuck to my guns as I felt a section was best for me and baby. She was born at 4.5kgs so pretty chunky.
It was such a good experience. I was SO nervous and so apprehensive in the week before. Don’t get me wrong it is major surgery and I am sore today. But I am taking the recommended painkillers and I was up and walking round the ward first thing this morning and have just got home from hospital. I’m so surprised with how pleasant the whole thing was and so so happy with my decision :)

I had my planned C-section on the 11th and it was a great experience from the moment I arrived to the hospital. The nurses and midwives were great, all the doctors explain every single step. I did get a bit dizzy with the spinal but they lied me down and it went pretty smooth. I felt the tug and pulling but it took 3 min from knife to get the baby out, within 10 min I had him on me and I felt so much love and connection with my baby. They offered me to stay in for 3 nights to help with breastfeeding. Pain wise, none during the surgery, with the meds it is quite manageable and staying in the hospital for three nights helped me getting care and healing better I think. I have been walking about since I came back home on day 4. The scar is healing nicely but need to do proper recovery exercises yet.
Highly recommend planned C-section. 🤗
