UC question whilst on statutory maternity pay (SMP)
I get 6 months full maternity pay from my employer, them drop to SMP.
Does anyone know of I can claim UC instead of the 30 hours towards my eldest son's nursery fees whilst on SMP? And if so, how far in advance should I apply before dropping down?
I have a mortgage, so I know no help towards that, and no savings, so hoping I can claim a bit whilst on SMP.

No unfortunately, the 30 hours are funded places rather than cash, so they won't allow you to take money instead. I believe UC childcare payments need you to be in work to apply and will reimburse you 85% of your costs instead of giving you so many hours free :(
