My daughter is 23 months. She says one word but not 2/3 word sentences. She will talk gibberish. But she understands a lot of what we are saying. Should I be concerned or get her checks out

Do you speak 2 languages at home? I find it's common for babies exposed to more than one language...I'm not a professional, but I'm sure she's okay. Keep reading to her and asking her questions. I also find repeating what they say back to them helps too! If they say 'milk' , you say 'milk? Yes, let's get some more milk' plus the sign language for it too!

I wouldn’t be concerned but I would get her into speech therapy. On average how many words does she know ?

My advice would be to avoid giving her things unless she asks. If she wants a toy or a snack wait till she tells you (gestures count) the words will come when she needs to use them 😊

Ask her doctor at her next visit to see what they think. It’s not something I think you should run out and get her in speech right away but if it’s something the doctor thinks would be good it’s better to get an early start. My thought on it is it’s never going to be bad for them to get extra help
