My son is 9 months old and EBF.
He wakes about 8-12 times during the night and will only go back to sleep if i let him latch. Sometimes he won’t even eat he will just suck for comfort and go straight back to sleep.
My partner tries to settle him but he just screams until i feed him.
We also co sleep but I’m going to attempt to put him into his own room over the next few weeks.
Any advice on how to lower the amount of night wakings and to get him to settle without the boob and also for my partner?

This is normal for a 9 month old, if he’s missing feeds during the day due to solid foods being introduced it’s possible he’s also making up for that overnight, so personally I would keep nursing him back to sleep as much as you can, but if you want to do something different it’s best to introduce it simultaneously. For example if you want him to get used to being rocked to sleep, do that for a week or so WHILE nursing him so he starts to associate rocking with sleep. Once he’s used to that you can try rocking first, then nurse (while still rocking) if he needs it, and just try to delay nursing gradually each night while continuing to rock him until eventually he falls asleep with just the rocking. Have dad try rocking him then hand him to you to nurse & rock if needed and again delay more and more each night until he falls asleep with dad rocking him. Doesn’t have to be rocking of course, that’s just an example!
