Hi moms, I could really use your advice 🙏
My son is 28 months old. He understands everything, responds to his name, and follows directions well, but he only says around 10–12 words and isn’t combining words yet.
At daycare, they mentioned he sometimes prefers to play on his own, although he does interact a bit with other kids. A speech therapist suggested doing an autism assessment, which made me feel a bit worried.
Has anyone experienced something similar with their toddler? Did your child catch up with speech, or did you pursue further evaluation?
I would really appreciate hearing your experiences ❤️

my son is similar we started taking him to speech he’s up to 60-70 words only combining things like “over there” or “no mine” speech therapist and regular pediatrician said it’s normal and it’s more common in boys.. he’ll follow directions if we ask him to do something too.. I don’t think there’s anything to worry about right now he still has plenty of time to catch up.. my speech pathologist did mention doing a screening for the daycare bc he would be able to start right when he turns 3 to catch up instead of waiting til the following september
How long he has been going?
