So I'm about to start the process of going through a private assessment for my daughter who is 10. Now we have a screening appointment tomorrow as it will potentially to Autism and ADHD.
My question is it says they will do a mental state examination, does anyone know what they do during this. I'm slightly concerned my daughter won't speak or will speak through me.

My daughter was way younger when diagnosed. I think you are over thinking it slightly. They just evaluate and assess I assume at that age they would want to speak to the child but if she doesn't want to talk that is a (sign, symptom, or whatever) that will help them reach the diagnosis.
My daughter was 6 when she was diagnosed. They watched her play with me spoke to her a little and seen a few videos I had recorded for them as ours was online.
