What if I don’t want an induction?

Hi everyone, I’m 39+1 weeks, my next midwife appt is on my due date which I am happy about however hope I go into labour before then. I have had slight twinges and small pains, however nothing has happened yet and I am gutted as I really don’t want any type of induction. Say I get to 41+ weeks, and I don’t want any type of induction, what happens then? This might be a very silly question but my midwife isn’t helpful and would rather hear from others as opposed to doctor Google. Thanksss! X

You can continue to wait till 42 weeks then they’ll push more for an induction .

You could always start with a sweep before anything else happens.

You can always refuse an induction and request increased monitoring instead. After 40 weeks I think it's daily or every other day. As long as mum and baby are doing fine then it should be safe to wait. And use the BRAIN acronym to make decisions. B- benefits, R-risks, A- alternatives, I- instinct and N - nothing (what happens if we do nothing for X amount of time). Hope that helps! I'm in the same position as you, 39 weeks and desperately don't want induction as I've heard about the pain and risk of more interventions

I am a FTM but I have multiple friends who had their babies at 42 weeks 🫶 My plan is to trust that baby comes when they are ready and use as many natural induction methods as possible and hope for spontaneous labour soon!

Ive been told if i choose not to have an induction and i go over 42 weeks i will be offered closer monitoring and the risks explained to me.

Been told they’ll offer a c-section and induction but i can turn it down and continue naturally.

I think it may depend if your a high risk or low risk pregnancy??

They can’t make you have an induction! They will provide extra monitoring that may mean you go to the hospital daily! I’m in the same boat I have hypertension baby is fine my placenta and cord is working as it should I’ve just asked for extra monitoring as I’m a very natural girly! X

First Midwife Appointment

I had my first midwife appointment yesterday, I've been left full of worry is this normal?

She came to my house, she was so lovely I do feel lucky to have such a good midwife. The meeting was about an hour and a half.

There was so much information to take in I was very overwhelmed!
She went through all the scans testing etc, I never knew there could be so much 'wrong' with a baby. I have now booked an early scan I am freaking out.

I've been googling statistics all morning

Toddler asked how I got pregnant 😂

I’m currently 27 weeks pregnant with my third baby. My oldest daughter, who just turned 3 last December, asked me today how her baby brother got into my belly 😂. She caught me off guard, and I didn’t have a quick answer, so I told her to remind me later so I could explain it to her.I need ideas for what I would tell her.

Random question

I am currently experiencing a bit of stress, as I already have a child at home, my menstrual cycle is overdue by two days, I am suffering from stomach discomfort after consuming food and feeling nauseous throughout the day, have a mild cramps, very fatigue, and I noticed a slight pink discharge while wiping, and the pregnancy test I took today showed a negative result. I am quite confused and could use some advice.

Pressure down there?

Hi recently I've noticed when I'm walking I feel pressure 'down there' specifically my urethra, feels like I need to empty my bladder but I don't. Is this just baby's position? It's so uncomfortable

Baby congestion relief

My baby gets very congested particularly at night time and gets a very blocked nose and starts snorting. I’m looking into getting an air purifier/ humidifier to try and help any recommendations/tips?

Will bring up during my HV appointment next week also!
