Anxiety

I’m currently 18+6 and this is my first pregnancy with a BMI of 34-35, and I’m shit scared about my health. Currently, I’m doing alright, but I have this constant fear of getting GD. My mum had GD when she was pregnant with me, and because of my BMI, I’m at high risk of getting it. I have been eating fairly healthily, but just the anxiety is killing me. I had an ice cream just now after lunch, and all I can think of is getting GD. Plus, I have been leaning towards a C-section just because I want to have a little bit of control over the situation (IYKWIM), but I’m also scared of getting the scar infected. I would love to hear what your thoughts are so I could feel normal about it x

Don’t stress you are fine. You’ll get asked to do a test to see if you do have GD because of the risk factors later in your pregnancy. If you do, it’s super manageable and generally just needs monitoring. Your health is fine.

I had a c section. It was fab. My scar didn’t get infected. Do what feels right for you. Don’t stress. Don’t panic. You’ve got this.

If you feel continuously anxious and you feel it’s spiralling ask for a perinatal mental health team referral from your midwife.

I got GD. I was beating myself up about it. My doctor told me it had nothing to do with my diet. A bit of ice cream after lunch isn't going to give you GD. Honestly, chat to your GP about your anxiety, they will help. I also had a C-section, it was absolutely fine. My incision healed amazingly well. I'd choose it again with less anxiety if I had a do over. X

You will get offered a test, don't stress about it, I had 2 tests for it cause when i had my baby mersured at about 37 38 weeks she was a big baby, i no its easier said than done cause I felt the same, I craved certain chocolate certain crisps when I was pregnant, I also had a c section my scar healed amazingly and I heal fairly fast

I had a high bmi whilst pregnant and ate all the crap I wanted. I only regret it now because I’m still the same weight as I was when baby was born🤣 did test for gd like 3 times but was fine. My csection scar didnt get infected but it did reopen because a piece of the thread used was poking through but after they removed that it healed within days. Just keep it clean, take time after a shower to lay and get air to the scar and don’t do too much apart from look after baby for the first 2 weeks and you’ll be fine xx

I had high BMI. No GD. Ate whatever in pregnancy.

I had a vaginal birth with no tearing or stitches. I havent had a C section but it is a lot more recovery and loss of control after cos you can't do a lot of things.

Anxiety’s going wild now..

For more context I’m 27 weeks today Thursday the 26th March! I went into Maternity assessment on Monday just gone as I was just worried about little man’s movements after being there on the monitor it went green, they did a quick scan said he seemed fine and they could see the waters were good etc! Anyways I had given them a urine sample and I’ve now had the results back saying I’ve got a uti and then something else saying group b strep? I’m now laid in bed worrying my head off, they have told me to collect some antibiotics today but I’ve got my glucose test currently fasting I go into the midwife’s at 8:40 will it be fine to collect after that and I guess I’m just sat thinking is everything gonna be okay? Sorry my minds just going everywhere at the minute

Never had a CO2 check at midwife appts

Is this normal? Or is my midwife seriously lacking? She also hasn’t checked my weight since my 20 week appointment or maybe even earlier which I find really strange.
