Refusing formula

Hi moms, my 5-month-old only drinks expressed breast milk and refuses formula completely 😔

Sometimes my supply is low and I really need her to take formula, but she won’t accept it. I’ve tried a few times with no success.

Any tips on how to introduce formula or what worked for your babies?

Make a bottle with a little formula formula and top up mostly breast milk initially and gradually put less breast milk in to allow baby to get used to the taste.

I'd second what Charlotte said!

Also make sure you're introducing formula when she's hungry rather than just wanting a comfort feed (you might be doing this already)

Hi! I had this exact same situation earlier this year. I slowly mixed part and part. Start with like 160 breast, 40 formula, and slowly build it up. I started in January and only now will he take full formula.

Keep going!

I had the same problem and it was dairy free formula too so had a funny taste which didn’t help! Keep trying and also try distracions whilst giving the bottle. Like TV in the background etc

I use food instead of formula to top up when my supply is low due to period

Reducing formula feeds

I've just been told by my nursery that they wont give bottles of/and formula from 1 year one, my little boys 1 in 3 weeks.
Looking for advice on how to reduce his formula intake?
Hes loves both food and milk 🫣 I think he will drink cows milk so that's not the issue im more concerned about the fact that hes in a routine with his bottles.

Help

I s it possible to get an emergency pair of glasses? So my little boy was born this morning at 24 weeks + 3 days. I usually wear glasses a but left then at home (and all other bits ) as we assumed we’d be sent home again like we had been many times for bleeding / fluid leakage (obvs that wasn’t the case) and now I’ll potentially be stuck an hour away from home without my glasses for weeks. Which obvs isn’t good how can I get a free emergency pair???

Normal behaviour?

Please help. My son is 12 months old and still breastfed. He goes to nursery twice a week. When we pick him up, he screams all the way home (only 4 mins) and then continues to tantrum and really winds himself up to the point where he is extremely upset and distressed, until I can sit down to feed him. Is this normal please?😭 I’m dreading weening him off

Late talkers

Hi everyone - My daughter is 27months old and still doesn’t say more than a handful of words regularly. She mostly just says one syllable or sound of a word. We’ve been doing speech therapy for a little more than 6 months. She is starting to vocalize and at least try more, but still has not really started producing actual words yet. It is getting harder and harder not to stress out about this and worry that something more might be wrong, like I recently started looking into childhood apraxia of speech.

I’m looking for some community of people who have gone through or are going through similar things just to be able to talk to someone about it. Did anyone have a child with a similar profile at this age - how did it go from there for you? Is anyone going through something similar right now and want to chat?

Thanks.
