I don’t even think it’s safe for an 8wk old baby to sleep longer than 6hrs because their blood sugar can drop?
Regardless, I think waking up for feeds at 8wks is significantly more common than not waking up. So no advice just trying to reframe the perspective from this being a problem to this just being normal baby behavior!

Mine was 9 weeks yesterday and has been sleeping through for the last 4/5 days. Nothing major routine wise, my 3 year old goes to bed at 7 and then after that I just start getting her stuff sorted for bed, change her, feed her and get her in her sleep sack and place her down in the next to me and then she goes to sleep between 8-9. Last night she fell asleep at 8:30 and woke up at 5:30 this morning although she may of slept a little longer her brother woke her up coming in my room coughing😅 sometimes she wakes and stirs a little but isn’t looking for milk, last night was the first night she’s slept through without any stirring at all, although i still didn’t sleep through because I wake up stressed that she’s sleeping so long and check she’s alright🤣

No advice other than saying sleeping through the night isn’t down to routine, every baby is different and temperament 🥰 we tried the typical bottle(boob) bath bed thing and it just didn’t work for us but did for a friend.

Every baby is different when it comes to sleeping. My daughter who’s 27 months old still wakes 1-4 times a night depending on the night while my 11 week old only wakes up 1-2 times. He goes down at 7/8pm and doesn’t get up till 6:30am sometimes later and that’s 1 feed through night around 2/3am and a dream feed around 11pm before I go to bed x

You’ve either got a baby that sleeps or you haven’t. I don’t think routine will necessarily help. My little girl sleeps through 12 hours and has done from a few months old but I know people with children around the same age and they don’t sleep through even if they tried the routine I have

Just copied and pasted my reply to someone asking about this on another group:
My baby is 10 weeks old and sleeping through the night, and has been doing at least 4/5 hour stints since he was 4 days old. I can confidently tell you that it has absolutely nothing to do with his routine / anything ive been doing, it is completely down to his temperament. I know this because my nearly 3 year old has never slept through a day in his life, still (and up until around 18 months was still waking every 2 ish hours, every night) and i have not changed anything that i do with my baby. I can't believe two babies can be so different - I spent so long with my first reading books, trying out different things and nothing ever worked - so please dont fall into the trap of thinking there is something you can do (especially at such a young age) to influence how they sleep. It just depends on your baby x

Mine sleeps through most nights at 11 weeks. My eldest didn't for years. They are just built differently. We barely have a routine for the baby actually. I just put white noise on, brestfeed in big bed to sleep and then put her in her "next to me".
Remember than waking up throughout the night is the norm for babies and even toddlers. It is hard to function on little sleep, I know from experience, but expecting for an 8 week old baby to sleep long stretches is unrealistic. They wake up for feeds because they are hungry, it's a very natural thing.

Our routine is 7pm up to bed normally down by 7:30/8pm ish. When we first started he was up till 10/11pmish then up at 2 and again at 5. From 10wks he started sleeping through but I really wasn’t expecting that. His sister never did. She is now 6 and still gets up at least once in the night!
