Sciatica pain

Has anyone else experienced sciatica pain post birth?!
If so, did anyone investigate the potential cause? What medication was given? How long does it last?
Feeling really anxious that this pain could be permanent, it’s no good when you’ve got a new born baby 🙁

Oh god, me! It was awful. I did go to the doctor’s and they were no use whatsoever, didn’t prescribe anything and just said it would pass.

I could barely move and just limped around the house for weeks. Then I had to take my son somewhere 20 mins walk away and the car broke down… so I walked. It was actual hell but the next day the pain was so much better and got better every day. I know that’s super weird and I’m not suggesting you go for a really long walk… but movement does help, even if it’s hard.

That probably doesn’t help at all, sorry! But I really don’t think it’ll be permanent. Your body is adjusting, hormone levels will be all over the place and you need time. Definitely see the doctor but try not to panic, and good luck ❤️

PEMF really helps with sciatica pain. It’s frequency healing with devices you use at home. I work with PEMF devices and know what it helps with - pain, inflammation, fatigue, stress, nervous system - happy to advise as it’s a minefield out there ❤️‍🩹

I suffer with sciatica and have for the better half of 10 years now. It got worse after I had my baby wich was over 2 years ago now I went in to the doctors and was getting sent to physio wich did nothing. You have to really play on it to the gp, I had to tell them it was keeping me up at night and interfering with my life wich it still is and eventually I was referred for an MRI wich has sent me back round to doing physio with an MSK clinic. The only thing I found even helps is ibuprofen or a hot bath but don’t give up keep ringing the gp about it they’ll have to refer you eventually xx

I had it and did physical therapy and cupping (done by PT). I saw a pelvic specialist that used alternative treatments like cupping etcs and omg it was gone after a few months. I also had to do a lot of exercises/stetches.

A good stretch for momentary relief is in a upright seated position. Prop your ankle onto your knee to create a figure 4 and lean forward. You may need to push your knee that is lifted to make it more intense.

The exercises mostly focused on strengthening the front of the body.

Mine started a few days before I gave birth and continued for around a month after with my first. It was so bad I could barely walk. My GP referred me to a physio but I had to wait a number of weeks for an appointment. With gentle stretches and short walks it did get better. I always made sure there was somewhere I could take a break when I did little walks. Every now and then it twinges a little but nowhere near as bad as it was. Hope you make a speedy recovery, it is so rubbish when you just want to care for your baby and you can't move your body how you want to without the pain 🙁

April 2nd baby 💙

I was due on April 2nd and baby boy arrived at 39 weeks after a positive induction on gas and air, too late for an epidural and 48 minutes in labour. 💙

Should I talk to someone about this?

Yesterday the nurse came to remove my staples and look at baby. She said she has blood under her scalp on one side. Likely from the use of a vacuum. The hospital NEVER told me and I was awake during the c section. I called the nursing line and they confirmed that a vacuum was used.

My mom also said she overheard them say they had to repair something from my last c section but the nursing line says they have no notes.

I'm really upset. They talked about informed consent but they never told me about the vacuum or what to expect after.

The nurse who came to my house told me should could become jaundice as the blood under her scalp absorbs and I will need to wake her for feeds.

Suspected Food Poisoning

I'm currently 28 weeks and away on holiday. Yesterday I made the mistake of eating a hot dog from one of the all inclusive trucks that are dotted around the pool areas (I know dumb choice). After about an hour I got super nauseous and uncomfortable. I tried to rest it off but it just lingered, I felt lethargic and went down for some dinner, I got as far as eating two pieces of cucumber and I couldn't put my finger on the feeling but my stomach was uncomfortable and I felt like crying - I didn't feel well at all. After attempting the third bit of cucumber I darted for the toilets as I felt sick or maybe needed to open my bowels (which I already had an hour before and it was normal). Anyway, turns out it was both. I vomited a large amount and went to the toilet multiple times. I cleaned myself up and sipped fresh water for a couple of hours before going to sleep. I also managed an orange and a couple of dry non sweet biscuits. I haven't visited the toilet overnight again but my stomach does occasionally get a wave of nausea. Baby has been active all evening through this, was active at night for a bit and seems to have started some wriggles this morning. Do I need to go find a hospital/maternity unit and get checked or do I just wait and see how I feel today? I'm hoping being able to hold something over night is a good sign. I also have gestational diabetes so am a little worried about my blood sugar dropping or not keeping it steady. Any advice would be appreciated.

Early Scans

How long did people wait for early scan, did a test last week and said 1-2 weeks pregnant, is this too early for a scan?
