Does anyone know what health visitor does at home? I had my baby 17 days ago at 36 weeks via emergency c section. We have been to our midwife appts and now have health visitor on Wednesday. I’ve heard they are really judgemental and I’m petrified. I’ve been struggling with breastfeeding and I’m on a feeding plan as she’s dropped just below birthweight again.
I don’t want a judgy health visitor making me feel shit in my own home xx

They check you have all the information you need to keep your baby safe and well. They ask things about if you know about safe sleeping, how is baby feeding, etc. Don’t listen to judge, more to give you the information if you don’t have it. But because they ask questions about do you know about this and that it can feel a bit judgemental.

Mine was lovely! She weighs and measures them, and just checks they are safe sleeping and everyone is safe at home. My house was a DUMP after I had mine and she had no judgement at all x

Mine was really nice. But they came to my house a week after birth. I then came to them at 6 weeks.

This isn’t true. It’s their job to support you with a new baby and if you feel judged by your health visitor I’d be requesting a different one.

I had very good experience with health visitors with my first very helpful not judgemental at all ..
They were great for Mental support and advices

All the health visitors I’ve met have been lovely. And they’re there to offer you support too, as well as baby.

Thanks girls, makes me feel better, I think as she’s lost weight after doing so well I already feel like I’m failing I dont want to be made to feel worse. Hopefully I have a good experience as so far the midwives I’ve seen have been incredible xx

Mine was lovely! Just weighed the baby and he was loosing weight too but she was non judgy 🥹 and made sure i was taking care of myself after c section . I was stressed before but really it was quick and sweet . Hope it’s the same for you x

My health visitor was amazing and so kind. My baby was also not gaining weight back well and we'd been given extra visits from the midwife and health visitor but each time they were really kind. With my first baby the HV was useless, not mean but just couldn't answer any of my questions.
Moms, I'm desperate. My 14 week old baby boy has been waking every hour the past three nights and I just offer him the boob to go back to sleep. What else can I do at this age instead of just offering him the boob ?! Im afraid he now thinks he needs it every time to fall asleep and he isn't hungry. I need to sleep ...

Probably a bit late 😅 38 + 3 days, but is everybody harvesting colostrum before their babies arrive?? My midwife said I don't have to and I was paranoid about inducing labour early on (wouldn't mind if she stayed inside just a litttttle bit longer). But now I'm worried that if I don't, there's a chance I won't be able to give her what she needs when she's first born (planning to breastfeed if poss). Any thoughts/advice welcome!!

My daughter is 11 months and still doesn’t sleep through the night, she wakes up about 2-3 times and wants to sleep in our arms. We will rock her and then put her back in the crib only to sometimes have her wake back up an hour later. If we leave her she just screams endlessly. Anything we can try or has anyone had the same thing happen?

Anyone else's babies not settling after last night feed, my little one usually wakes around 4am and I can't get him to settle back. I do it all with dim lights and white noise; I don't interact. Any advise?

What does everyone think of swaddles and which ones do you rate?

I have two girls; my toddler is 22 months old and my infant is 4 months. When can/should I start to bathe them together?
