Private vs. NHS?

What is everyone doing? I’m a first time mom, IVF baby and I need to get a c-section. I always thought I would do private to get the extra care as I’m extremely anxious… until I looked at the cost.

I’m registered at the Westminster and Chelsea hospital. Any experiences? Did anyone not feel enough support with NHS only?
If you got private scans, where did you get them?

I don’t know why you wouldn’t have a c-section with the NHS. You are in safe hands there and there would be no difference in care at that stage.

What you might be able to consider is booking yourself in for private after care on the private post-natal ward. They have one at Queen Charlotte’s and presumably at Westminster and Chelsea! Xx

I would always select NHS care, even if I had the money for private (having worked in both). I agree with the above that a private post natal room would be a good idea, but I would always opt for NHS care.

Also a first time mom, with an ivf baby. I’m using both nhs and private especially for scans since nhs doesnt have as many as id like. They also dont offer the NIPT test.

Its also just nice to be able to speak to a doctor to express concerns / ask questions when I want to.

Makes me feel more in control.

Using London Gynaecology.

The care you receive in private hospitals is all delivered by staff who work for the NHS.

Also, in any case of any emergencies most private hospitals aren’t equipped to deal with them & you end up in an NHS hospital.

Personally, I’d go for NHS for the delivery but if you want extra reassurance / monitoring to pay for additional scans / tests privately x
