I’m struggling at the moment with some sort of behaviour regression from my son.
For context,he’s doing very well at school and doesn’t appear to be having any issues or anxieties,so I don’t think there’s a SEND element there at the moment.
Over the past couple of months,he’s frequently started talking to us in baby talk,or making silly noises like a baby babbling - he’s usually very articulate so this is unusual. He does have a younger sister who is 2,but this is recent behaviour.
Also - toileting. He has never had any issues before, but recently I’ll remind him to go to the toilet before we leave the house,he’ll refuse, and then only a short while later he’ll suddenly announce that he’s absolutely bursting for the toilet, even crying at times because he needs to go so badly. We’ve had some really horrible, stressful times where we’re desperately looking for a toilet and he’s only just made it in time.
I’ve wondered if it’s medical so I asked him about it and he says that he just doesn’t want to go when I remind him,or that he “forgets”.Again - this is new behaviour.
I’m starting to become really frustrated by this, and predict that we may well get to the stage where he ends up wetting himself.

It’s so difficult but for me when my son refuses to go to the toilet now before we leave the house I literally refuse to leave the house until he does what I ask because we’ve had times when he’s then screaming saying he’s bursting and that hes got to go and then I explain if he goes when I asks then this wouldn’t happen, so I would be quite strict with that, the baby voice thing you don’t think he’s copying do you? Or is it all the time or just in certain parts of the day? X
