Is this too much weight gain? I’m worried!

I am 25 weeks pregnant and have gained 1st 10lb. It seems each week at least 2lbs is coming on. No one else I know is gaining this fast. My appetite from pre pregnancy to now has got so much I feel like I’m eating all the time. It could potentially be another 30lb to delivery or more which would be 54lb weight gain in total! Any advice?

It depends on how much you weighed before getting pregnant as well. There are guidelines online on how much is advised to put on depending on your bmi.
If you are hungry all the time try eating healthy snacks... don't obsess, go out for a walk and rejoice that you are creating life.

I just went through a period of gaining 2lbs per week NOT pregnant, so you’re definitely fine lol! 2lbs per week is a 500 calorie surplus per day, which is easier to end up in than you’d think just with oil and a small dessert everyday or less activity. All this to say it will probably slow down some as it takes your body more calories to function and sustain you and your baby! It could also be water retention, and some women have more amniotic fluid than others. I gained about the same amount by 25 weeks and only gained 36lbs total, which is 1lb over the recommended amount and I gave birth at 41+5. Don’t stress it!

My advice would be try not to worry about it. With my first I gained about 4 stone in total, most of it was off after labour. I think its really not worth worrying about the numbers per se as you gain a lot of extra fluids i.e. amniotic fluid, blood, plus the baby itself and their placenta. A lot of women also retain water. I appreciate it can be shocking to see the scales go up, but it's not necessarily all fat.
I would also forget BMI, it's outdated and old fashioned and certainly not relevant in pregnancy.
I didn't weigh myself at all with my second pregnancy so I'm not sure of the stats but remember everyone's body is different, every pregnancy is different and you are going to gain weight as your body grows a baby.
